Color Accent Camera Feature

I was so excited yesterday - I discovered a new feature on my camera that I didn't even know I had. To give credit where credit is due, I was looking at Rachel's pictures on Facebook and she had one of her daughter that was black and white except for her baby's big blue eyes. I commented and asked her if she used Photoshop to edit her photos. She said, no, it was a feature on her camera. Come to find out she has a camera similar to mine, so I also found the Color Accent feature on my camera and discovered I can do the same thing! I still need to read up on how to best use this feature, but see the blue sheet in the below picture - no Photoshop involved. So cool!

This & That and some old pictures

I just got home last night from a 4-day training in Orlando. I had a huge hotel room, complete with a dining room table. I could have probably fit 4 or 5 of my apartments in that room. There were 5 people there from the Phoenix office, and I hung out with them every night. Tuesday night was sushi and the gym at the hotel, Wednesday night was shopping at the outlets and Bubba Gump at Universal for dinner and Thursday night everyone came to my hotel room and we ordered in (since I had the dining room table). It was so refreshing to be with some of my Phoenix co-workers.
---------------
My dad had surgery to remove his gallbladder on Wednesday. He had not been feeling good for a few weeks prior, and after a doctor's visit and an ultrasound it was determined he had a huge gallstone and surgery was the only way to remove it. He is still in the hospital but should be coming home in the next couple of days.
---------------
On August 11th we filed the 2007 10-K/A for the client I have been working on. We still have the 2008 K to be filed, as well as the Q1 and Q2 10-Qs, but at least this was one small accomplishment.
---------------
I have finally been getting back into a good routine at the gym. Kellyn's wedding is less than 3 months away, and I need major help before I put on any bridesmaid dress.
---------------
Family trip to NYC for New Year's Eve. I have had good intentions to get these pictures posted but hasn't happened yet. So, here you go.

Mom and I in the airport at Phoenix Sky Harbor. I am holding Otis and Mom is holding Sam.

Kellyn and Kyle in Newark airport - Rather than hiring a moving company, I just packed a bunch of suitcases.
Family picture with the Rockefeller Tree. This was New Years' Eve and it was FREEZING!

I bought a new Mac!
Wall Street had Christmas lights as a flag.
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Museum of Natural History

We saw Altar Boyz on their last night here. It was off-Broadway but still very good - and funny.
---------------
More pictures that never got posted - Christmas.

We did a white elephant gift exchange - my dad brought an old TV - this was hilarious.

Christmas morning at Mom and Dad's.

Christmas afternoon at Grandma Hazel's.

Summer Streets

Summer Streets is an event that goes for three Saturdays in August. The city closes Park Ave. from 72nd Street to the Brooklyn Bridge from 7am to 1pm so people can walk, run and bike the street. Last Friday night, I saw that Laura (a new friend from church) had posted on her Facebook asking if anyone wanted to get up early and walk. I had to work last Saturday so I couldn't do it. I did look it up online and realized that it went for three Saturdays, so Laura and I decided to do it this Saturday. Laura also invited a girl who just moved here from Tokyo - I don't remember her name though.

We got started at 8am - it was a good thing we got an early start as yesterday was a hot, steamy day.
Park Ave. and 72nd Street - our starting point.

Going through the tunnel at about 46th Street

A cool shot of Grand Central Station. There are no sidewalks from where I took these pictures, so the only way to get this close was to have the streets closed down.
Crunch gym put on an aerobics class in the street.
Taking a break - Noah kept looking down when I tried to get a picture of him.
We made it to the Brooklyn Bridge - 6.9 miles total!
It goes for one more Saturday - anyone want to go walk it with me?

Diamondbacks Game!

The Diamondbacks were in town to play the Mets the first weekend in August. Debie and I went to the Saturday night game. The Mets play in Queens (Flushing) - it is about a 20 minute ride on the 7 train from Grand Central Station. This is their first season at the new Citi Field.
I figured out what "Mets" stood for - Metropolitans, of course! It was also build a bear give-away night - I don't usually carry a stuffed bear around with me :)

Our seats were in the way upper deck, but they were still pretty good. The weather was great that night so it was fun just being outside.
The Dbacks lost - the game was tied until the bottom of the eighth when the Mets hit a grand slam - still a good game though.

Edamame!

I have been loading a bunch of pictures to my computer tonight, and I started laughing when I saw this one.
I took it a couple of weeks ago, and the reason I took the picture was because Otis was licking my discarded edamame shells. Now that I look at it though, I realize that it looks odd that I was 1) eating on the floor, 2) putting the leftover shells on the floor, and 3) eating next to a toy mouse. Thinking about it, I do eat quite a few meals sitting on the floor - I guess that it just due to living in a Manhattan apartment with very little space!

Yankee Game

Finally finishing up posts from my parent's trip here a month ago. On Monday, July 6 (my last day off of work) we went to the Yankee game. I mostly wanted to see Yankee Stadium and go to a game while I live here. It is in the Bronx, but it is actually a short subway ride - just a few stops on the uptown 4 train :)

We arrived quite early - as you can tell, no one is there yet.

They have what is called Monument Park - all of the old players have their numbers retired there.

This is a 9/11 memorial - the year the Diamondbacks won the World Series.
The view from our seats.
After the game, we stopped at Henri Bendel to see Jenn who was hosting a trunk show there. This is her Jennifer Paige Designs table.
