We did a weekend in Newport Beach for the last hurrah of summer. Dave's kids had an early fall break, so we left Phoenix on Thursday night after work. Dave rented a great Airbnb beach house, that was walking distance to the beach.
On Friday morning we headed down to the beach right after breakfast. I took a boogie board out, and this is what happened on the first wave. I think the board was just old, because I caught the wave perfectly and didn't hit the sand or anything but the next thing I knew I had no board under my arms. So, boogie boarding was short lived on this trip!
After a while at the beach Dave and I made a trip to Pressed Juicery for a freeze. I really wish one of these would open in Phoenix/Scottsdale. The freeze is made out of almonds and sweetened with dates and maple syrup. So it is dairy free and processed sugar free and it tastes so good.
Sunset on the first night.
Sunday morning we took an early walk...
...down to the Newport Pier.
Breakfast Saturday morning on the patio.
This was a great Airbnb house.
Me, Akayla, Kayleigh, Jackson and CJ on the beach.
Baywatch??? Still need to figure out how to get the abs for that.
Selfie with the neighbors cat.
When I was petting him, I noticed he had an extra toe on all of his paws. I have never seen this on a cat.
Saturday afternoon relaxing and reading.
Sunset handstands...
...and yoga.
Sunset on the last night on the beach.
I had a flight home early Sunday morning as I was trying to make a 10am baby shower in Phoenix. I went to the airport, got on the plane and we pushed back from the gate and were in line to take off. Just before take off the pilot came on the intercom and told us we were going to be pulling aside for a few minutes as the airport in Phoenix was closed due to a fire alarm at air traffic control. Well, that turned into going back to the gate and them saying we could get off the plane as it was going to be a while. At this point I was going to miss the baby shower so I called Dave and he came back to get me and I drove back to Phoenix - I had no idea what was going on in Phoenix (rumor was the entire airport was closed at this point) so I decided to take the known ride home. Fun weekend...and I would like a beach house in Newport :)
