Snowbowl - December 27th

We took advantage of days off from work and hit the slopes at Snowbowl a couple of days after Christmas. We just went for the day - left early Thursday morning and were home by about 10pm that night (if it weren't for the weather we would have been home much earlier - read more about that below).

Kellyn came with us too - it was fun to have her there.
Cloudy/snowy day - it was actually a perfect day for skiing because it started flurrying in the morning and by lunch it was full blown snowing. We had one icy run mid-morning, but with the snow it made for perfect powder conditions.
Let's go!
It was a chilly day but we had planned for it and were grateful for all the layers.
Riding the lift (and no, dad, we didn't drop our phone). :)
San Francisco Peaks
The one group shot from the day - Dave, Jackson, Me, Kellyn, Gibson and Mason.
Always love adventuring with him.
After this picture Kellyn and I went on our own for a while to do some blue runs. If Kyle had come we probably would have gone to the top for one black run.
We skied right until the end of the day at 4pm. By this time, it was really snowing so getting the 7 miles to the main road took us an hour. The delays were caused by one guy deciding to put chains on his car in the middle of the road (literally) and then another car was flipped on the side of the road. We stopped for dinner at Diablo Burger - in my opinion this is a must-stop if you are in Flagstaff.
When we came out of the restaurant the snow had started coming down in Flagstaff.
It was so pretty and would have been nice to stay the night but we hadn't planned for that.
We were on the road home by about 6pm or so. The drive from Flagstaff to Camp Verde was a stressful one because it was snowing pretty good and the roads were bad. It was very low visibility and cars in front of us were sliding. I was thankful that Dave was driving and that we were in the Land Rover. Thanks babe for getting us all home safe - such a fun day and hopeful for more days skiing this winter!

Uriah's First Camelback Hike

Last Sunday Uriah hiked up (part of) Camelback for the first time. I don't know how it came up, but over the summer he said he wanted to hike the mountain with me. I never heard him say this, but my mom said that he said it multiple times. We waited until the weather cooled down and after a couple of failed attempts finally made it the first Sunday of January.

At the start of the trail...first time hiking and on a double black diamond :)

Sibling hike with Uriah. #stillfitafteralltheseyears
As he was hiking he kept saying "I can see everything!"
This was as far as we went...but for a 3 and a half year old it was far enough.
He got a picture with all of us.

Water break...
...with Uncle Kyle.
Then they built a rock mountain.
Overall the hike was a success. Kellyn said Uriah talked about it Sunday night and on Monday he saw a mountain and said look at that mountain we hiked yesterday. As he gets older we will just keep going farther distances until he makes it to the top!

Kellyn and Coby's Baby Reveal #2

Two weeks ago on October 2, Kellyn and Coby hosted a family get-together for baby reveal #2. They had found out the gender of the baby the Monday prior, so this was a reveal for everyone else.
Team Pink - I was originally going to choose blue, however, Uriah (or more so my mom) derailed me into picking a pink necklace. On Saturday morning I stopped at my parents house after BODI and Uriah had spent the night. We were outside doing bubbles and talking about the baby reveal. I made the comment that Uriah doesn't know what is about to happen and he is going to have a wake up call when he is not the only little prince anymore...he is my sister's first child, and he is the only grandchild on both sides of the family so you can only imagine the attention he receives (through no fault of his own). My mom told me to "ask him what is in his mommy's tummy" so I did and he responded "baby sister." My mom said that Uriah had just been saying that all week, so I was thinking that Kellyn and Coby told him thinking he wouldn't repeat it. Alas, I went with Uriah's advice of a "sister."

Uriah getting ready to open the box and thinking what is this?!?!
Play by play of the box opening to follow in the next series of pictures...

It's a BOY!

Uriah gets a baby brother :)
Cake pops that were blue inside.

Soon to be family of 4!
We also got to write down a name...I won't say on here what I chose in case it is a winner :)

Uriah Turns 2

Uriah turned 2 last Saturday, June 4th, 2016. He is growing up so fast and it is fun seeing his personality develop. I couldn't have asked for a better first nephew. Love him.
