New York Botanical Garden

Today was corporate day at the New York Botanical Garden and I had free tickets through Pfizer.
I went with two friends from church, Sarah and Joy, who I have gotten to know through my 6:30am Friday morning Bible study.
Unfortunately, my tickets were only good for today and it was a cold, rainy day here in the northeast.
The special event going on right now at the NYBG is The Orchid Show on Broadway.
Fortunately, this event was all inside...
because orchids only grow in warmer climates.
I never realized how many different kinds of orchids there are.
About 60% of orchids are "miniature" orchids and can only be seen with a magnifying glass.
I am so tired of wearing pants and thick coats/sweaters/layers.
At least seeing all these flowers makes it look like spring.
I had fun with my new DSLR camera today.
I am happy we decided to go even though it was raining. I do want to go back on a warm, sunny day as there are 250 acres in this garden.

Oh praise the One who paid my debt and raised my life up from the dead...

Today was such gorgeous Easter Sunday in NYC. I slept in a little, went to the gym, took a lunch to Central Park and read for a little while in the sun, and then went to church tonight.

Spring is my favorite time of the year in NYC. As I was walking through the park today, I was praising God that He planned for Resurrection Sunday to be in the spring. The trees are beautiful in the park right now, and they are a picture of new life - just like Jesus' death and resurrection offers us new LIFE in Him. Here are some pictures from today.

The Park was so busy - the City comes to life when it warms up. People are out walking the streets, restaurants open up their patios and everyone's mood changes - it is wonderful after a long, cold winter.

This is my street - all of the trees have white blossoms on them.
These are my Lifegroup girls before church tonight - Lindsay, Jessica Joy and Liz.

A Warm (Hot) Weekend

Last weekend it was unseasonably warm here in the City.  On Saturday it ended up being somewhere in the high 80's and on Sunday it was 92!!!  Saturday afternoon I ended up walking from my apartment to Union Square.  It was about a 2 hour walk, but I just wanted to be outside.  I have included some pictures from my walk below.

The tulips are all gone now, as well as the blossoms on the trees.  Also, I do realize that I have taken a lot of pictures of flowers and trees lately, so I promise my next post will have some people in it.  My Dad is here right now for about a week and we have been out doing things and I have those pictures in the queue.
