Thanksgiving 2018

Thanksgiving this year we continued our tradition of running the downtown Phoenix Turkey Trot - this was my 7th year in a row of doing this. It is a fun little run and I also feel good about getting a sweat in before indulging in Thanksgiving dinner.

After the run we went to the Brown's for the Krown Thanksgiving Brunch. Brian made me a latte.

We didn't stay long at brunch as we needed to get home and shower before heading up to Prescott with Dave's family for Thanksgiving dinner.

Dave and I ended the day making popcorn and watching a movie at home.

Thanksgiving Weekend 2016

The 4-day weekend for Thanksgiving has become one of my favorites. Lots of time spent with family and friends for fun and relaxation.

Thanksgiving morning started out early with the Turkey Day 5K in downtown Phoenix. This was my 5th year in a row running this race, and the 3rd year of our "Friendsgiving" brunch after the run.

Kyle and I at the finish line. Kyle passed me at about the .5 mile mark, and I stayed behind him the rest of the race without his knowledge. I let him know I was there right before we got to the finish line so we finished together.

My time this year was 25:59 which was an 8:22 min/mile. I got 6th overall in my age group. BODI is working :)

I stayed at brunch until about noon, and then came home to get ready to go to Kevin & Jocelyn's for family Thanksgiving. I gave Otis and Sam a turkey dinner snack since it was Thanksgiving.

My cousin Eric brought this virtual reality game and Dad "rode" a roller coaster. You can ask him how that ended :)

On Friday afternoon I went to the ASU vs UofA game in Tucson. 

The game did not turn out well for ASU (we lost) but it was still a fun night! And I got my picture with Sparky.

On Saturday afternoon we went down to PHX Flea - it was a good event, however, my annoyance with downtown Phoenix is that it is not easy to be there on a weekend (specifically in regards to parking). The city is trying to get more people downtown and to build restaurant/store presence, but it cost us $12 to park yesterday to go to this market (and then it was a $5 entrance fee per person). If they want more people to come downtown on the weekends, parking should be free!

Finally, today after church and LGO we went to the car show downtown (but today we found a cheaper lot so parking was 'only' $8).

It was cloudy and cold (for Phoenix) the last two days so it makes it feel like Christmas now.

Turkey Day 2015

This Thanksgiving Day was another year of continued traditions with friends and family. My morning started early with the Turkey Day 5k in downtown Phoenix.

This was my 4th year running it. The first year I ran with Kellyn, Kathryn and Heather and we ran into the Kruckenberg's and every year since I have run with the Kruck's.

Amy, Gina and I. None of us were really in running shape this year...we still work out - hiking, hot yoga, BODI - just hadn't been running. So, we made turkey bows and wore tutu's instead. If we weren't going to run fast, we were going for the fashion show. Gina texted me the morning of the race and said bows and tutu's required more makeup than usual. My response was that usually I wore no makeup for this race, but this year had actually put on makeup.

Amy, Kylie and I ran together the majority of the race. Kylie said "I told myself I wasn't going to walk this year" and she didn't! Amy noticed the last photographer, so we posed for him to take some pictures. 

My time this year was 31:25, which translates into a 10:07 min/mile. Not fast by any means.

After the run we went back to the Kruckenberg's for Thanksgiving brunch. Brian set up a TV outside so we could watch the Macy's parade while we hung out.

I made the low-carb pumpkin muffins.

Amy made a gluten free quiche...

...and so did Gina.

After brunch I came home and made a Brussels sprout dish to take to Kevin & Jocelyn's for the family Thanksgiving dinner.

I made this same dish last year, but it took me forever to find the recipe. So, linking it here in case I need it in the future.

Kellyn brought over the espresso machine that we used for the Rust Family Reunion this past summer. After being closed since June, Rustbucks was again open for business.

It was a good Thanksgiving day, other than the fact that I started not feeling well Thursday night. Was going to #optoutside on Friday, but spent the day watching movies and taking naps instead (and that has continued into today).
